DISCOVERED:   1988 by Cameco Corporation
OPERATION:   McArthur River is the world's largest, high-grade uranium mine, contributing to over 16 percent of the world's uranium production. It began operation in December 1999. McArthur River received ISO 14001 environmental management certification in January 2003.
CAPACITY:   Annual production capacity of 18.7 million lbs. U3O8 (7,193 tonnes uranium) milled at the Key Lake site
PRODUCTION:   16.6 million lbs. U3O8 (6,385 tonnes uranium) in 2008; all ore is milled at Key Lake
RESERVES:   332.6 million lbs. U3O8 (127,933 tonnes uranium) with an average grade of 20.69% U3O8
